Relationships between men and women can be tricky at times, especially when you start to want something that your partner isn’t prepared to give you yet. In order to get what you want from a woman in a relationship, it’s important to carefully evaluate what your goal is, as well as what she wants from the relationship itself. Here are five tips to help you get what you want from a woman in a relationship and strengthen the bond between the two of you.
1. Communicate
Relationships go better when partners can discuss issues with one another. Listening is important as well, and sending texts or e-mails that are unduly aggressive will just push your partner away. Before you put your relationship at risk, think about whether you’re really willing to give up on it.
Nobody wants gifts if they come with an ultimatum attached. If your love isn’t strong enough to avoid throwing out demands, maybe it isn’t love at all—or maybe you should start looking for somebody else who would be willing to provide what you want without angering them or making them feel attacked.
2. Find Your Sweet Spot
Pick 3-4 things that are very important to you. For example, she might value loyalty over romance and spontaneity over consistency. So if you really want her love, that doesn’t mean trying to give her gifts on every holiday or call her every morning before work.
Find out what makes her tick by asking these questions: What can I do for you? How can I be of service? It may sound selfish, but when it comes down to it, if you want something from someone, you need to be clear about what that is and find your own sweet spot. She won’t read your mind.
3. Be Assertive
People are unlikely to gift you with what you want if they aren’t sure what it is. Instead of being wishy-washy, it’s essential that you clarify your needs and desires when you’re in a relationship.
Whether it’s scheduling time together or asking for something specific, don’t be afraid to get your point across assertively. It doesn’t mean that your partner will always give you what you want. But at least she’ll know where you stand!
4. Discipline and Consistent
If you’re not disciplined and consistent, you won’t get what you want. It’s as simple as that. A woman who wants to keep you around will be happy to respond when she sees (and feels) consistency on your part.
The moment there is inconsistency, however, is the moment she begins to lose respect for you and wonder if she can trust what you say. So, make sure you show up prepared and know exactly what it is that you want; otherwise, all of your discipline and consistency will go right out of the window!
5. Relax, Enjoy the Ride, and Embrace Change
It’s easy to overreact and get upset when you feel like you’re not getting what you want from your partner. In some cases, it could be that she isn’t doing enough. But don’t make assumptions; instead, ask her straight up. Most of us would rather hear the truth directly than have someone pout or accuse us of ignoring them.
If it turns out she isn’t putting enough effort into something important (like sex), talk about how to make it better for both of you. And if she really is trying but just needs a reminder every now and then, don’t hesitate. Give her an early warning sign so she can start preparing for your next request, before you even ask!
