Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido clinch AFRIMA awards

Nigerian superstars, Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido, clinched awards on Sunday night at the prestigious All Africa Music Awards which took place in Dakar, Senegal.

Grammy award-winning Burna Boy bagged the Best Act in Africa award at the eighth edition of the event.

He also cliched the Best Album of Year award, beating the likes of the likes of South Africa’s Kabza De Small, Cote D’Ivoire’s Didi B, among others.

However, the Ivorian singer, Didi B, wom the Song of to the Year Award.

While Wizkid bagged the Best Act in West Africa award, Davido clinched the Best Male Act in African Inspirational Music Award.

For his song “High” with Davido, Adekunle Gold won two awards: Best Act Group in African contemporary music and Best Act, Duo or Group in African Pop.

Guinean singer, Manamba Kanye, won the Best Female Act in West Africa award.

The awards night, which was held at the 15,000-capacity Dakar Arena in in Diamniadio, Senegal finalised the four-day event to celebrate African music superstars.

Ghana’s Black Sheriff and Nigeria’s PSquare were among the artistes that thrilled the crowd during the event.

Yul Edochie second wife, Judy Austin on Thursday night sent words of encouragement to her husband following the death of his son with his first wife May.

The actor’s child Kambilinachukwu died on March 30 after he developed a seizure in school while playing football with his mates.

Following Yul’s message of appreciation to all for their love and concern for his family at this difficult time, Judy described him as a great man in her Instagram post.

She reposted his message of appreciation and said great men face great challenges. The actress also encouraged her husband to trust God to lead him always.

Bovi reacts to Nancy Isime’s nude scene in Shanty Town

Popular Nigerian comedian, Bovi has reacted to Nancy Isime’s revelation that her nude scene in the crime thriller Shanty Town was done by a body double.

Nancy played the role of Shalewa a prostitute indebted to a notorious kingpin in the story of three women who unite to wage war against a ruthless crime syndicate.

The 31-year-old became the subject of conversation immediately after the six-part series was released on Netflix on Friday, January 20 because of the body parts on display.

In one of the scenes, Nancy’s character is made to strip naked leaving her buttocks and breasts on display.

Clips of that scene have been shared by Nigerians across the globe, leading to Nancy becoming the number one trending topic on Twitter.

Reacting to the confusion over her role, Nancy said in an Instagram post that she was not the one whose body was on display in Shanty Town.

According to her, a body double was used for the scene.

Parts of her post reads: “Simmer down horny boys and girls. I know those gorgeous body parts excite you but they sadly belong to my beautiful body double.

“Mine aren’t that succulent.

“Enjoy our beautiful masterpiece, get the message from each scene and Focus on the right Focus!

Reacting to Nancy’s post, Bovi wrote in the comment section “Na lie! Na you! It’s by force. Na you Nancy!”

Bovi’s wife Kris Ugboma also added her voice in the comment section of Nancy’s post, promising to watch Shanty Town over the weekend.

“Binging on it this weekend,” she wrote with two popcorn emojis.

Shanty Town also stars Richard Mofe–Damijo, Ini Edo, Chidi Mokeme, Nse Ikpe–Etim, Shola Sobowale, Shaffy Bello, Mercy Eke, Regina Daniels, Judith Audu, Toyin Abraham and Peter Okoye of P-Square among others.

Papa Ajasco actor Femi Ogunrombi is dead

Actor and music teacher Femi Ogunrombi, who played the role of Papa Ajasco in wap TV comedy series Papa Ajasco and Company has died.

Ogunrombi reportedly died on Saturday evening.

His death was announced in a Facebook post on Saturday night by journalist and lecturer Dr Shaibu Husseini.

Dr Husseini’s post read: “I have just been reliably informed that the ethnomusicologist, former Music Instructor with the National Troupe of Nigeria and one time stand in for the ‘Papa Ajasco’ character on the popular WAP Comic Series ‘Papa Ajasco’ Mr. Femi Ogunrombi is DEAD!

“I am told that the actor, singer, highlifist and trained Nurse whom we fondly called ‘Uncle Ogurombo’ (not to his hearing though) passed on this evening.

“He will be sorely missed! Journey well Sir! Goodnight Uncle Femi. Goodnight Sir.”

Femi Ogunrombi studied music and drama at the Obafemi Awolowo University.

He was a multi-instrumentalist, composer, music and film director and voice trainer.

Apart from the National Troupe of Nigeria and wap TV, he also worked with Tenstrings Music Institute among others.
